Brass 5 performed the musical assembly “Why Music?” for students in kindergarten through fifth grades at Drewry Mason, Carver, Mount Olivet and Rich Acres elementary schools on Nov. 7 and 14.
“Why Music?” takes students on a musical journey discussing and celebrating how music impacts our lives, from ceremonies and helping us learn, to the role music can play in entertainment and advertising. The assembly had students dancing from the moment they walked in the door and giggling along to the silly antics of the band as they demonstrated the numerous ways music is integral to our everyday lives.
This program is part of Piedmont Arts’ educational outreach program and was partially funded through the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
