Instructor Ginnie Conaway will lead students through this basic drawing class for beginners. Students will work on basic line drawings and learn the five principals of drawing: perception of edges, spaces, relationships, lights and shadows, and perception of the whole. All supplies provided. This class is best suited for youth with some drawing experience. Students will learn basic skills and how to draw what they see. Instructor Ginnie Conaway will also help students with their current drawings and sketches. Students are encouraged to bring their current sketch pads, etc. All supplies provided. This course is open to intermediate-level drawing students as well as those who participated in Learning to See and Draw. Lead by instructor Ginnie Conaway, students will build on their current drawing skills by completing drawing exercises and through one-on-one consultation with the instructor. All supplies provided. Spend an afternoon exploring the infinite possibilities of using fabric, thread, beads and other embellishments to create your own Mini Art Quilt. Artist Jennifer Reis will lead an afternoon workshop on basic and advanced hand-worked art quilting techniques, teaching non-traditional methods of quilting, appliqué, embroidery and embellishing.
Using techniques like raw appliqué, embroidery, and embellishing with shi-sha mirrors, beads and found objects, students will create an individually designed embellished textile mini artwork. All techniques are hand-worked, emphasizing non-traditional sewing and quilting, and is open to sewing novices and experts alike. All supplies provided. Advanced registration required.
