MARTINSVILLE, Va. (Oct. 23, 2026) — Piedmont Arts’ October programs included an intimate jazz concert in the galleries, a special event for educators, and performances by Mill Mountain Theatre in local schools.
The Robert Jospé Quartet performed for around 45 people on Oct. 15. The group played an exciting mix of instrumental jazz, rock, and pop, including songs from their newest album, “The Night Sky.”
Featuring Jospé on drums, the quartet includes Daniel Clarke on piano, Paul Langosch on bass, and Brian Mesko on guitar. Included in the group’s many musical accolades, Langosch toured and recorded with Tony Bennett for 20 years, and Clarke is the musical director for k.d. lang.
The program was supported, in part, by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, which receives support from the Virginia General Assembly.
Around 100 education professionals attended a special appreciation reception at the museum on Oct. 22, where they enjoyed refreshments, games, and raffle prizes generously donated by local businesses. The event celebrated educators’ dedication and hard work while providing a welcoming space to connect with friends and coworkers.
The event was sponsored by Brightspeed and 3rd Bay.
Mill Mountain Theatre brought performances of “Curious George: The Golden Meatball” to local schools on Oct. 22 and 23. The performances were part of Piedmont Arts’ educational outreach program.
More than 1,100 students at Drewry Mason, Mt. Olivet, Sanville, and Stanleytown elementary schools followed Curious George on a fun-filled adventure to save Meatball Day and enter his friend, Chef Pisghetti, in Rome’s world-famous Golden Meatball Contest.
The program was supported, in part, by the Virginia Commission for the Arts, which receives support from the Virginia General Assembly.
Piedmont Arts’ educational outreach programs are presented free of charge to students and schools. The museum reaches more than 5,000 students per year with its programming.
