Works by Kelly Gravely Mattox

The Lynwood Artists Gallery features work by Kelly Gravely Mattox.

Mattox is recognized for her vibrant, large-scale oil paintings that celebrate the beauty and energy of the world around us. Her expressive body of work spans landscapes, cityscapes, nature-inspired compositions, and abstracts. Defined by a bold, dynamic palette and confident brushwork, her paintings create an immediate visual impact, inviting viewers into moments of color, movement, and joy.

Inspired by a lifelong appreciation of nature, she draws creative influence from some of history’s most celebrated artists. Early inspirations included Vincent van Gogh and Georgia O’Keeffe, while later influences such as Richard Diebenkorn and Wayne Thiebaud helped shape her distinctive artistic voice.

Mattox is a native of Martinsville, Virginia. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in commercial art with a minor in art history from Virginia Commonwealth University. Before returning her focus to fine art, she built a successful career in sales and marketing. She lives in Lynchburg, Virginia.

The Lynwood Artists Gallery is curated by Lynwood Artists, an organization for practicing artists in the Martinsville-Henry County area. Its members share a desire to stimulate understanding and enjoyment of fine art and the artistic process, while providing area artists with opportunities to exhibit and further develop their talents.
