A Beautifully Broken Virginia

A Beautifully Broken Virginia brings the “unseen” side of Virginia to light through photographs of houses, churches, schools, asylums, diners and secret societies that have been frozen in time. Photographer John Plashal has commemorated these abandoned gems by capturing their beauty and highlighting them in a presentation full of powerful imagery and emotional stories. He will also offer exploration tips and photography advice. Reception with light refreshments at 5:30 pm. Talk begins at 6 pm. A Beautifully Broken Virginia is part of Virginia Museum of Fine Arts’ Speakers on the Arts program, available to Statewide Partners of the VMFA. This program has been organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and is supported, in part, by the Paul Mellon Endowment and the Jean Stafford Camp Memorial Fund.
