Indigenous: The Art of the American Indian

Indigenous is a major exhibition highlighting American Indian art never before seen by our community. The exhibition honors the culture, history and art of several American Indian tribes, including the Cherokee, Haliwa-Saponi and Piscataway, among others. Indigenous features artwork by five contemporary American Indian artists from northeastern North Carolina: Karen Lynch Harley, Phillip Harley, Running Deer Harley, Senora Richardson Lynch and Arnold Richardson; a photographic history of The Trail of Tears on loan from the Museum of the Cherokee Indian; and American Indian artifacts on loan from the collection of Dr. and Mrs. Mervyn King.
